Completed during the artist residency at the Worcester Art Museum
This work was inspired the many works in watercolor in the collection of the Worcester Art Museum, as well as those found at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) and the Isabella Stewart Gardiner Museum in Boston - particularly of John Singer Sargent's, Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper. By taking a classical pose, very often used for portraiture in New England's higher society and inverting into a working class woman of today - the black gown becoming a headband.
This work is paired with the painting Trang Khieu After Sargent (2019).
