Leather Hard (For Asmujo)

Leather Hard is a term in ceramics when the clay has lost enough water through evaporation to have the feel and touch of leather. This work was conceived and created during my one-month artist residency in Bandung, Indonesia with the Jakarta Contemporary Ceramics Biennale. As an experiment for slab building a new work where one material (clay/ceramics) would mimic the properties of another (leather). The test case was a leather bag that belonged to the artist, Asmujo.
